Pastoral Counseling Programs
Ordination in Pastoral Counseling is required for degree candidates.
The Pastoral
Counseling track is designed to
train students in the areas of Pastoral Counseling. This program examines life
issues from a holistic perspective (spirit-body-mind). Course material
provides both Psychological and Spiritual instruction.
Pastoral counselors
encourage the counselee to examine their issues from a holistic perspective and
learn healthier ways of coping in order to promote positive growth. It is
our belief that through proper learning and changing all non-organic,
spiritual-emotional life issues can be effectively dealt with.
There are five main components in the Pastoral Counseling Program they are to:
1.
Provide pastoral counseling, psychotherapy, consultation, education,
certification and accreditation as an extension of the ministry of faith
communities.
2. Commit to recruit new members, retain, and revitalize present membership.
3. Promote pastoral counseling and care practices that are ethically sound,
clinically competent, spiritually grounded and sensitive to multiple faiths and
spiritual practices.
4. Provide professional formation, credentialing and membership for those who seek
to integrate the resources of spirituality, theology, and faith traditions into
their professional practice.
5. Advocate the well-being of persons and communities.
We expect Pastoral Counselors to abide by
ethical standards and practices of conduct.
